Construction of the O'Neill
FireTraining Tower

In 2005 we finished building a training facility next to the fire station. The training tower has a 4 story tower and is 12 feet by 22 feet long by 40 feet high. The residential section is 29 feet long by 22 wide by 28 high with a 16 degree gable roof and a 12 by 12 feet upstairs burn room. There is a burn room annex on the end of the building that measures 14 feet long by 22 feet wide by 10 feet high. The training facility was jointly financed by the Rural Board, the City of O'Neill, the Volunteer Fire Department, Chambers Fire Department, the Holt-Boyd-Wheeler Mutual Aid District, and many other donations from individuals and corporations. With this facility we offer live fire training to any department wishing to train. The facility is set up to have rope classes, confined space training, two live fire training rooms, search and rescue, ventilation, training with roof cutouts, laddering and rappelling, and high angle rescue.

We have a basic rope class starting 7-7-05, open to any area departments, put on by Nebraska Training Division. Any departments wishing to train can contact Chief Rod Ludemann, 336-4628 or 336-4629, Assistant Chief, Roger Miller, 336-2090 or 394-5728 or Fire President Ron Schmit, 336-3907.
